Carousel

From Record Store Day debut to record deal in under a year…

Dundee band, Carousel have been hotly tipped for success, since bursting on to the Scottish music scene in late April 2016, from the likes of Jim Gellatly (the voice of New Music in Scotland) and Charlie Ashcroft (Amazing Radio)

Playing only a handful of gigs in 2016 to maximise interest, notably at Glasgow’s Tenement Trail and the world famous Kings Tut’s, a sold-out hometown launch show at Buskers, Dundee and a storming debut in Inverness.

After supporting Manchester up-and-comers The Blinders in March 2017 , they quickly got added to the opening year of TRNSMT including a line up along side Catfish and the Bottlemen, Kasabian, Biffy Clyro and many more!

Releasing only two tracks , firstly ‘See You Go’ which was playlisted by Amazing Radio and handpicked to be featured on their ‘Across The Pond’ feature, resulted in the band being playlisted on four US radio stations, showing the potential in the band’s sound and songwriting. Swiftly following up with debut single ‘Home’, which has had over 100k plays on Spotify, the band have made huge waves and got people listening.

At the start of January 2017, Carousel signed an exclusive deal with Assai Records to release a limited edition 12” vinyl EP on Record Store Day (22/04/17). The release will land exactly one year after the band made their live debut in the record shop as part of the Record Store Day 2016 acoustic sessions.

The aptly-titled new EP, ‘Show The World’ (which will be limited to 500 12” vinyl copies) features three brand new studio tracks; ‘Friend’ ‘You Told Me’ and ‘Stay’, plus ‘See You Go’, ‘Home’ and a piano demo of ‘Feeling’, also a new track.

The band officially launched the release with Assai Records, Broughty Ferry on Saturday 22nd April 2017, following up with a show at Conroy’s, Dundee on Saturday 29th April. The 12” EP was available at both launches, with the intimate Conroy’s gig being a sellout.

Outside of their hometown, Carousel have been picked by legendary promoter Mikey Jonns to play Glasgow’s Broadcast as part of his highly respected This Feeling clubnight, described by Noel Gallagher as “The best club in the UK for future Rock ‘n’ Roll stars”.

After a brief hiatus, frontman, Brad Kennedy is back alongside lead guitarist, Ryan Thain, bassist, Ronnie Falconer and drummer Chris Wood to make this yet another successful year for Carousel.

Carousel played their first live show this year at the 13th note in Glasgow on the 21st October 2019 alongside playing EH6 Festival and supporting The Capollos at a This Feeling gig ... the atmosphere at both sets has proved that the band are back and bigger than ever.
